The Koehler Method of dog training is by far the best.

Complete Novice (beginners) course. Basic novice work including off-lead control.
The last week is graduation, with diplomas for all dogs passing, and prizes for the top four dogs.
Exercises: Heel on lead (includes figure 8), Stand for examination, heel off lead, recall, one-minute sit stay, three-minute down stay.

Open Class. For dogs who have completed novice class.
AKC Obedience Trail exercises: Heel off lead, drop on recall, retrieve on the flat, retrieve over the high jump,
broad jump, three-minute sit stay, five-minute down stay (with handlers out of sight).

Advance Class. Combination of polishing, proofing, retrieving. drop on recall, learning ring procedure.
